Business Continuity Plan

Brief

VIPA Digital partnered with a Global Data Centre Provider to design a robust Business Continuity Plan (BCP) in alignment with ISO 22301 standards. The goal was to create a comprehensive plan that addressed key elements such as strategy development, risk assessment, recovery time objectives, communication, training, testing, and the evaluation of the BCP’s effectiveness.

Delivery

After conducting an initial workshop with the client, VIPA Digital leveraged its operational expertise to craft a detailed BCP in collaboration with key stakeholders from the client’s team. In-depth interviews were conducted with critical personnel to identify essential business functions, define expected recovery time objectives for each function, and determine mitigation strategies to minimise the impact of potential disruptions.

A total of fifteen major emergency categories were identified and evaluated, with step-by-step preparedness guidelines and detailed procedures developed for the operational teams to follow. VIPA Digital also created templates and checklists to ensure consistent collection of emergency data across various sites. Additionally, a testing schedule was established to regularly simulate different disaster scenarios, ensuring the plan’s reliability and effectiveness. Given the importance of senior management commitment in the success of a BCP, specific attention was dedicated to showcasing the management’s involvement and setting clear BCP objectives within the plan.

Results

As a result of the collaboration between VIPA Digital and the client’s team, a thorough BCP was developed and successfully demonstrated to external auditors. The plan comprehensively addressed all significant risk areas and established clear procedures for timely responses in case of disruptions, ensuring business continuity and operational resilience.
