Connectivity Review

Summary

A listed REIT engaged VIPA Digital to investigate the availability of fibre connectivity in the vicinity of a site which had the possibility of being developed into a Data Centre campus.

Brief

The customer has a large portfolio of Data Centres across the United States and Europe and are looking to expand into a new market within a major European market region. A site was identified and due diligence was being carried out to be taken forward to the management team to allow them to make a decision on the acquisition.

VIPA Digital was approached to perform a connectivity review for the customer to allow them to move towards the final decision on the acquisition of this land plot.

Delivery

VIPA Digital reviewed all existing documentation provided by the customer regarding the land plot. From this, the VIPA team were then able to engage all relevant fibre providers, within a 30km radius to the site, to acquire estimated costs for fibre connection to the site and possible interconnects to the site. As well as providing high-level costs, VIPA were able to provide further information on nearby competitor’s connectivity infrastructure to paint a more in-depth picture of how competitive the customer can be with the given land plot.

Regular update meetings were held between the customer and VIPA Digital to provide progress reports as well as ensuring that all necessary information required by the stakeholders was being captured by the report.

Results

The report was successfully delivered to the customer, detailing the availability and high-level costs of bringing various fibre providers on-line at the site, possible interconnects to the site, and a review of competitor sites in the area to enable stakeholders to make their decision on acquisition.
